Winter Fritz -13

Description

We all know how Germany's invasions to Russia during the winter seasons went in history so I won't explain the back story here. A book I had read last year talked about how desperate the German forces on the Eastern Front were during the cold months of WW2. They would steal clothing from civilians in order to keep warm or take whatever was donated to them. One of the items mentioned was fur boas  They even improvised some makeshift camouflage for the snow upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…

No doubt, the Russian troops found this most strange. They began calling them "Winter Fritz". But can you blame poor Germany? To sum up, one does not simply march into Russia during the winter. This video shares a bit more detail on the subject www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUX7mA…

My source, "Armchair Reader: WWII Extraordinary Facts and Stories" pg. 302. I highly recommend this book.

Ahhjhhh... Marching through the Russian winter!.....

A lethal mistake that both Napoleon and Charles the 12th made earlier and were defeated precisely because of the damage that it caused to all who tried it without having lived the experience of a taiga/tundra winter!

One only marches when the green shows!

Even their other next door neighbours knew this fact! And they historically have rarely attempted such stunts ever! Cause they know what the winter in the region brings almost every time it happens!

Too bad most the soldiers got stuck wit wearing feminine clothes!

:iconfacepalmplz:

They practically look like old babushka's with helmets and uniforms on!
