Road Signs -12

This story I have seen many times in films, read in books, heard from people and now I finally got around to sharing it.

I’ll make this short and sweet. When WW2 started rolling things were becoming frightful. One by one, countries were falling before Germany’s onslaught and the big one left standing was Britain (before America joined and before Russia switched sides). To protect itself from the threat of invasion, Britain arranged for local road signs to be painted over or removed entirely. That way, if Germany ever dared to storm the mainland, the troops would be confused and lost.

The problem… Germany never did invade Britain. The only victims that ended up being lost on British soil were the British themselves. Of course, no one would dare ask for directions because how absurd would that be? We may never know the good this plan would have done.
