Description

I’m trying out a new thing or two with my drawings here. I don’t know how to explain it but… it’s something different. ^^;

Well, I say it’s about time for a WIN and a new person to enter the spotlight. This military tactic I have never heard of until someone mentioned it to me here on DA. But I can’t find that chain of comments :iconcryingplz: I’m sorry who-ever you are, I lost track of you!! Please tell me again because I want to thank you for inspiring this.

In December 1943, Canada had been engaged in the Battle of Ortona (Italy) while Germany fortified the area. The city needed to be taken because the Allied Forces needed that port for their ships. Sending in tanks was out of the question because the Germans rigged the city with obstacles and mines. That would force the Canadian troops out of the tanks only to be picked on by snipers.

A very bad situation to be in. So what did the Canadians do? They used a tactic called “mouse-holing” (which began appearing in military tactical manuals since this incident). Soldiers would invade one building, blow a hole in the wall (usually on the top floor) to another building, then… SURPRISE ATTACK!! If you take a look at the buildings in Europe this makes sense because many of them are so close together (we don’t have it quite as much in America). Troops would start multiplying in all the houses without ever leaving them and the enemy would be left in wonder. I guess you could say that the Germans were owned in the Battle of Ortona because of this tactic.

I’m sure that Canada’s entrance would have been more violent than what I have portrayed. I just can’t see him as the kind of person who would jump out and cry “BOO HAHAHA!!” Being unseen is a skill that comes to him naturally. Besides I saw it funnier this way. :icongermanicdespairplz:

My hat’s off to you Canada. I’ve associated with some Canadians myself and I must say, you are a cool lot. :icongrin--plz:

There are A LOT more crazy stuff in history that I've done but posting the links to connect them all is becoming too repetitive and tedious. Go browse my gallery.

EDIT: Thank you :iconkitaklaw: for reminding me that you are the one who told me this :icontongueblush:

Hee hee.  This reminds me.  Did you know that there was a POW camp in Canada in WW2?  German soldiers were held there and given such good service that most of them didn't want to leave after the War.  Those that didn't immigrate to Canada simply vacation there often.  They did try to escape since it was their duty but there was only one man that managed to escape back to Germany.
