Hourly Comic -12

I've seen a few these and it looked like fun. This was my Friday yesterday teaching 3rd grade. It's not too far from the typical day that I have been experiencing the past few months.



7AM - Every Friday I'm all alone in the morning because my roommies don't have to get up until 8 or later.

8AM - You know the NCLB Act that President Bush passed in 2001? Yeah, we call it "No Child Left with a Behind" because we've tested it off.

9AM - To help reduce the anxiety my cooperative teacher and I told the students to rearrange their desks however they wanted around the room. They LOVED it!

10AM - Everyday I do this Read Aloud with a small group of students. This day I read to them the original fairy tale "The Three Little Pigs". It gave them quite a shock

11AM - Worse part of the day, almost every time. Maybe it's because we're all hungry at that point. I swear, the moment we need our helpers and aides the most they vanish. My cooperative teacher and I made a deal with the students that if they kept quiet while testing we would pass around treats. Every 10 minutes they kept asking, "Are we quiet enough?"

12PM - Blessed hour where everyone gets fed. One of my students kept begging me to eat with him so that we could read a book together. It was my last day so I did

1PM - Things start to wind down here with miscellaneous stuff that we didn't get to that day. I am a tidy person and I hold my students accountable to it when they make a mess. We gave them treats and I find wrappers all on the floor. What's with that?

2PM - School play. I used that moment to grade papers and zone out.

3PM - It's awesome that there are parents who care and do their best to help but it freaks me out how teachers need to play the role of a counselor.

4PM - I'm alright when it comes to shots but this one felt like peanut butter was being injected into my arm. Dang, it still hurts!
